Loss Spoils Fine Performance by Phipps
The West Valley City Grizzlies outlasted Brian Phipps and the Sioux Falls Lakota, 9-8. Phipps was impressive in the loss. The Sioux Falls catcher went 4-4 with 2 home runs, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. The save went to José López, his 6th this season. With the victory, the Grizzlies upped their record to 15-15.

West Valley City needed the clutch hitting of Christovão Parreira to seal the deal. The shortstop swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Grizzlies on top, 7-6. For the game, Parreira had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
