Skyelanders Drop Grizzlies, 5-2, with Late Score

The Glendale Skyelanders stopped the West Valley City Grizzlies, 5-2, behind an impressive performance from Michael Nielsen. The 23-year old shortstop made life miserable for West Valley City pitching. He was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch. Pierre de Gilde came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. The Grizzlies fall to 9-12 and continue their wobbly start to the 2042 season.
Had Bo Geels not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Geels hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Skyelanders.
"We took home the win," said Nielsen. "What's not to like?"
