Lakers Win, Barlow goes 4-for-4
|
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Racine Lakers and Sioux Falls Lakota.
The Racine Lakers trumped the Sioux Falls Lakota, 3-2, at Laker Stadium. Racine center fielder Callum Barlow was terrific. He went 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Racine pitcher Feng-xiang Zhào earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Ian Benstead suffered the loss. Kevin Brickey earned the save for Racine, his 6th of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Miguel Bernal came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Sioux Falls pitcher Ian Benstead, he hit a 2-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Racine on top, 3-2.
"Don't let his youth fool you," said Lakers manager Noburo Kurihara. "Callum knows what he's doing out there."
Sioux Falls falls to 10-7.
