The Niigata Gigans topped the Lincoln Emancipation, 9-2, in Rocky Mountain League action at Gigans Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of Niigata pitcher Steve Erwin. Lee Hale earned the save for Niigata, his 1st. The Emancipation fall to 7-9 and continue their uneven start to the 2042 season.

Howard Stephens had a big 3-run home run for the Gigans in the bottom of the seventh inning. With Niigata leading 5-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Júlio Lozano and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Gigans on top, 8-2.

"What a dismal performance," lamented losing manager Juan Ávila.
