Emancipation Win at Niigata, 2-1
|
The Lincoln Emancipation downed the Niigata Gigans, 2-1, at Gigans Ballpark. Stellar pitching by Gary Ross had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Ross, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Lincoln is now 7-8.
Yataro Sugano, who is tied for 5th in the RML with a .356 batting average, had a direct impact on the outcome. Sugano contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put Lincoln up, 2-1.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Sugano told the Lincoln Bulletin.
