Late Heroics Net Puckmen 2-1 Win
|
The Puckmen earned a hard-fought, 2-1 win in 10 innings at Puckmen Ballpark. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Glendale pitcher Gary Murphy. Murphy went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. César González picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jimmy Horne suffered the loss. With the win, Namuko climbs to 9-7.
Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 26-year old shortstop Mike Rodríguez had a real shot to win the game. Glendale pitcher Jimmy Horne was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Rodríguez hit a run-scoring single. The Puckmen had a walk-off triumph.
"I'm proud of the way we played. It's fun playing baseball like that," said Puckmen manager Jerome Browning.
