The Lincoln Emancipation beat the Racine Lakers, 5-3. Lincoln pitcher and Phoenix, Arizona, native Tom Dodd led the way. Picking up his 1st save was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Dennis Sheffield. The win puts Lincoln at 3-2.

Arnold Kent had a big 2-run home run for the Emancipation in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Lincoln leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Melchior Lohse and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Emancipation on top, 5-1.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Kent. "I just want to win ballgames."
