The Lincoln Emancipation opened their 2042 season with a disappointing 5-3 loss to the West Valley City Grizzlies at Emancipation Stadium. First Baseman Christovão Parreira was a big part of the win for West Valley City. He went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when designated hitter Ernesto Machado hit a triple. The Grizzlies went on to win.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said West Valley City manager Carlos Aquino.
