Braggarts Win Thriller, 3-1
|
Fayetteville Braggarts starter Gerardo Díaz worked his magic, to help his team defeat the Clifton Dons, 3-1. Fayetteville reliever Ryosei Shiroi got the win, raising his record to 9-9. Pete Blaquiere was tagged with the loss. Fayetteville, now 76-63, holds down third place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.
The decisive blow was delivered in the bottom of the 12th when Marcos Jiménez hit a 2-run home run off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Tekle-Mariam Louahla to win the game for Fayetteville. The home crowd went wild.
Díaz called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
