|
The Evansville Tri-Staters beat the Leeds Locomotives, 4-1, at Tri-Staters Ballpark. Corey Thompson, in particular, was impressive. He went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Scotty Shorland got the win, improving to 10-9. He held the Locomotives to 1 run on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The Tri-Staters improved their record to 62-78 with the win over Leeds.
Evansville took a 3-1 lead on Thompson's 17th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Luis López in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Evansville to the win.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Thompson. "You've got to get results."
