Oysters Deal Ambers 5-2 Loss
|
The Akron Ambers got a superb performance from pitcher Anthony Craig, but the Chesapeake Bay Oysters still won the game, 5-2. Craig threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs. Eppe Dirks collected save number 27. With the win, Chesapeake Bay pushed its record to 77-59.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 23-year old second baseman Harry Sexton. Sexton had a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Oysters ahead, 3-2. For the game, Sexton had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chesapeake Bay manager John Mayer. "It's usually not just one thing."
