Golden Sands Defeat Locomotives, 6-1
|
Aberdeen pitcher Cole Hinkle had a large part in his team beating the Leeds Locomotives, 6-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Román Salinas earned the save for Aberdeen, his 24th. The Golden Sands sit in second place in the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands with a record of 65-64.
Aberdeen used a clutch at-bat from Enrique Murillo to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Golden Sands ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Cole pitched like a champ," said Aberdeen manager Yoichibei Suzuki.
