Raleigh registered a win at Anchormen Stadium by beating the Newport News Anchormen, 3-1. Pitcher Zachary Walker was one reason why the El Dorados triumphed. In 7 innings, Walker surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. At 72-55, Raleigh is in first place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.

Raleigh used the stroke of León Sánchez to get the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the El Dorados ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said Raleigh manager Ralph Gunther.
