Dons Suffer 3-2 Setback
|
Leeds pitcher Nobukazu Suzuki did his part in helping his team defeat the Clifton Dons, 3-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Masuhiro Abe earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record is now 3-0. Leeds, now 68-58, holds down first place in the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Javier López? The 22-year old catcher López stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Leeds up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Suzuki said after the game.
