The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

In a low-scoring contest, Aberdeen pitcher Roberto Ramírez was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 1-0 win. Doug Hall got the save, the 1st for him this season.

It could have been a different outcome for Aberdeen, had it not been for Herb MacGruder, the 29-year old first baseman . MacGruder contributed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put Aberdeen up, 1-0.

"In baseball, you can never take anything for granted," said Ramírez. "Someone can be on top of the game one month and in three or four months you can be out of the game."

The win puts the Golden Sands at 61-63, while the Red Racers drop to 63-62.
