In a tight tilt between the Camaguey Tinajon and the Aberdeen Golden Sands, Wendell Carpenter was the deciding factor. The Camaguey right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Carpenter, now 6-9, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The last-place Tinajon lifted their record to 45-73.

Ron Fields had a big 2-run double for the Tinajon in the bottom of the first inning. With Camaguey leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from former first round draft pick Peter MacLeish and swatted a double to left. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tinajon ahead, 3-0.

Afterward, Tinajon manager Brad Porter was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
