Anchormen Fall to Mohicans Late
|
A 4-RBI performance from the former first round draft pick Mike Davis helped the Mansfield Mohicans beat the Newport News Anchormen, 7-5. Mansfield reliever Michael Farmer got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Josh Cheney was tagged with the loss. With the win, Mansfield has a record of 66-53. Newport News falls to 61-58.
The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Mansfield trailing 5-3, Davis jumped on a cutter from former first round draft pick Josh Cheney and hit a grand slam home run to right-center. With one swing, the Mohicans had a walk-off win.
"The crowd was juiced," said Davis.
