Mohicans Defeated, 3-1, After Newport News Rallies
The Newport News Anchormen defeated the Mansfield Mohicans, 3-1, in 10 innings. Rusty Wood, who is tied for 7th in the AML with a .818 OPS, played a big role. Wood was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Anchormen in the win. Reliever Giustino Fusarpoli picked up the win. His record improves to 6-3. Gustavo Hernández took the loss. Josh Cheney finished to wrap up his 25th save.

Wood had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 splitter from Gustavo Hernández, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Anchormen a 3-1 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Wood.

"That was fun, that was just good baseball," said Wood.

The setback makes Mansfield 65-53.
