Anchormen Deal Fayetteville 8-2 Defeat
The home crowd had a good time watching the Fayetteville Braggarts and Newport News Anchormen get after it.

The Newport News Anchormen topped the Fayetteville Braggarts, 8-2, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Anchormen Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Newport News pitcher Tetsuzan Shimada. In 7.2 innings, Shimada surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.

The Anchormen got a big hit from right fielder Adam Barnes. Facing Fayetteville pitcher Juan Pérez in the bottom of the seventh, Barnes pounded a bases-clearing triple to right. His 4th triple of the season put the Anchormen ahead, 7-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Newport News manager Naoki Suzuki.

Newport News is 60-56 and Fayetteville, with the loss, 66-50.
