Though the conditions were not ideal, the Newport News Anchormen and Fayetteville Braggarts came back from a rain delay to finish their game.

The Fayetteville Braggarts had their hands full with Newport News Anchormen starter Mark Stanford, who frustrated Fayetteville hitters while leading Newport News to a comfortable, 6-1 win. In 5 innings, Stanford surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
