Independence Pick Up 8-2 Win
|
The Jefferson County Independence picked up a win at Estadio Quisqueya, knocking off the Santo Domingo Tourists, 8-2. Starting pitcher Adam Geake was a big reason why. The winner was Geake. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Mauro Rodríguez. At 49-59, the Independence claim 4th place in the Appalachian Mountain League Central.
In the top of the fourth, Jefferson County right fielder Tekkan Kojima had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Kojima stroked a 2-run single to right-center. It made the score 8-2, Jefferson County. For the game, he was 2-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
In comments to the Jefferson County Daily, Kojima admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
