Tourists Suffer 6-5 Loss to Anchormen
The Newport News Anchormen did just enough to sneak past the Santo Domingo Tourists, 6-5, at Anchormen Stadium. Newport News pitcher Tetsuzan Shimada, in particular, had a standout performance. Giustino Fusarpoli, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save. The loss makes Santo Domingo 46-58.

Newport News shortstop Jesús Morales contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 66th hit of the season and put the Anchormen ahead, 6-0.

Said Newport News manager Naoki Suzuki: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
