The Clifton Dons besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Akron first baseman Akinori Jouda by beating the Ambers, 8-6, at Great Lakes Field. Jouda went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The winning pitcher was Dave Reyes. His record now stands at 3-0. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits for the Dons. Pete Blaquiere was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 11 save opportunities.

Clifton used the timely hitting of Derek Robles to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dons on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Clifton manager Ken Hooper.

Clifton is last in the Appalachian Mountain League East with a record of 46-57.
