The Clifton Dons had to overcome a big game from Akron first baseman Akinori Jouda to leave Great Lakes Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 9-7. Jouda was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Naofumi Yamaguchi went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits. The left-hander struck out 5 and walked 0. With the win, he ups his record to 9-6 this season. The Dons now own a record of 45-57.

Derek Robles had a big 2-run double for the Dons in the top of the third inning. With Clifton leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Brett Purkis and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dons ahead, 5-0.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Robles said.
