Leeds pitcher Dan O'Halloran did his part in helping his team beat the Newport News Anchormen, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Newport News now owns a losing streak of 5 games.

Júlio Sandoval had a big 2-run home run for the Locomotives in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Leeds leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Mark Stanford and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Locomotives on top, 3-0.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Sandoval told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
