The Akron Ambers downed the Raleigh El Dorados, 4-1, at Great Lakes Field. Stellar pitching by Ivano Gramsci had a lot to do with it. The left-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Gramsci yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 7-5. Powell Ruíz finished to wrap up his 5th save.
Sergio Blanco chipped in a 2-run single for Akron in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"Awesome outing. Ivano was on top of them all night long," said Akron manager Ramón Rodríguez.
At 58-40, the Ambers find themselves in first place in the Appalachian Mountain League Central.
