Locomotives Handed 3-1 Loss by Joplin
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Joplin-Leeds ballgame.
Joplin Red Racers starter Victorio Guerra was in midseason form, as he helped his team beat the Leeds Locomotives, 3-1. In 7.1 innings, Guerra surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run.
The Red Racers got a big at-bat from shortstop Alex Brooks. For the game, Brooks went 1-2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Joplin a 3-1 lead.
"Tough loss," said Leeds manager Ray Graham. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
With the win, Joplin goes to 43-47, while the Locomotives fall to 48-42.
