Locomotives Use Late Surge to Win
The Leeds Locomotives picked up a win at Gold Street Park, knocking off the Aberdeen Golden Sands, 8-5. On the mound for Leeds was right-hander Dan O'Halloran. He played a key role in the triumph. Masuhiro Abe earned the save, his 1st, for the Locomotives. The Locomotives saw their record improve to 44-40.

The Golden Sands had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Locomotives going into the top of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old catcher Javier López came to the plate. López hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 fastball from Aberdeen hurler Andrew MacElfrish. It was López's 27th double of the year.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said López.
