Ken Marshall never let Fayetteville get something going. The Chesapeake Bay right-hander commanded his cutter in pitching the Oysters to a 2-1 win. Dan Wallace claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. His record stands at 3-0. Eppe Dirks notched his 17th save in 19 chances.

Had Javier Durán not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Durán hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Oysters.

"Good ballgame," said Fayetteville manager Dave Nash. "But we came up on the short end."

The Oysters, at 43-38, sit in 5th place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.
