Menéndez Tames Oysters, 3-0
|
The Santo Domingo Tourists got a marvelous performance from pitcher Juan Menéndez. The right-hander kept the Chesapeake Bay offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-0 Santo Domingo victory at Estadio Quisqueya. The save was credited to Melvin Romero, his 6th. At 34-38, Santo Domingo is in 4th place in the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands.
The Oysters had trouble solving Menéndez, who surrendered no runs on 4 hits over 8 innings.
Menéndez told a Santo Domingo Gazette reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
