Walk-Off Win Makes Newport News 38-34
The Newport News Anchormen knocked off the Mansfield Mohicans, 4-3, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Anchormen Stadium. Newport News pitcher and San Luis, Cuba, native Gerardo Díaz had an outstanding performance. The win belonged to Giustino Fusarpoli in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Xing-fu Zheng took the loss for Mansfield. Newport News has a record of 38-34, placing them 4th in the Appalachian Mountain League East.

Harris Lynch was the walk-off hero for Newport News. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Anchormen right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Lynch said in his postgame press conference.
