Golden Sands, Figueroa Deal Tinajon 2-1 Setback
|
The Aberdeen Golden Sands and Camaguey Tinajon played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
José Figueroa, who is tied for 3rd in the AML in wins with 8, was terrific for the Aberdeen Golden Sands in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Camaguey Tinajon. His performance earned Figueroa rave reviews. Román Salinas earned his 15th save, after closing out the game.
Figueroa, a native of Toluca, Mexico, was dealing all game. He kept Camaguey hitters off-balance, while giving the Golden Sands 6 quality innings. Figueroa threw 70 pitches, allowing 1 hit and striking out 6.
"The other side played a good game," said Camaguey manager Brad Porter. "You tip your cap to them."
Aberdeen leads the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands by 2 games.
