The Clifton Dons handed the Aberdeen Golden Sands a sound defeat, 11-1, at Gold Street Park. Jimmy Ernst was a main contributor to the win. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 4 for Clifton. Clifton, at 31-38, occupies last place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.

Andy Walker had a big solo home run for the Dons in the top of the third inning. With Clifton leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Yvon Fortier and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Dons on top, 2-0.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Ernst. "But I have better dreams after a win."
