The Fayetteville Braggarts downed the Newport News Anchormen, 7-3, at Ballpark of Fayetteville. Marcos Jiménez led the way, going 2-for-4 for Fayetteville. Gerardo Díaz, who is rated as the 41st best prospect by BNN, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. Cornelius Merklein picked up the save, his 5th.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Jiménez hit a 2-run single off Shane Wallace. It propelled the Braggarts into the lead, 5-3.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Jiménez.

The first-place Braggarts are now 42-28, the Anchormen 37-33.
