The Evansville Tri-Staters got a good effort from starter Barney Stone in defeating the Akron Ambers at Tri-Staters Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. Luis Miguel Freitas picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Joe Wheelock suffered the loss. Euan MacKinlay was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.

Evansville went in front, 3-2, on Jonathan Farrell's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Farrell hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Akron pitcher Joe Wheelock visibly perturbed.

Farrell told reporters after the game: "Runs were at a premium, so a good win for us."

The Tri-Staters move to 28-43 with the win, while the Ambers drop to 40-31.
