The Clifton Dons topped the Camaguey Tinajon, 5-4, at Clifton Stadium. Clifton designated hitter Dan Gore was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Kaong Chao earned the save for Clifton, his 12th of the year. The last-place Dons are 29-37.
With Clifton trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Gore hit a slider from Wendell Carpenter for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Dons ahead, 4-3.
Said Clifton manager Ken Hooper: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
