Ewan Kody did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Aberdeen Golden Sands from losing the game, 6-5, to the Akron Ambers in 12 innings at Great Lakes Field. Kody went 3 for 6 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Joe Wheelock. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-0. Akron raised its record to 36-24 with the win.

The Ambers got a clutch hit from left fielder Lorenzo Moreno. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Ambers.

"Now that's what I call an exciting game," said Ambers manager Ramón Rodríguez.
