The exploits of designated hitter Tim Baker, who is tied for 3rd in the AML in wins with 7, helped the Santo Domingo Tourists defeat the Newport News Anchormen, 2-1. Baker threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. In 8 innings, Baker surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Melvin Romero collected his 4th save.

The Tourists got a big at-bat from center fielder Manabu Kichida. For the game, Kichida was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 16th double of the season gave Santo Domingo a 2-1 lead.
