Anchormen Raise Rally Flag, Beat Leeds, 4-2
The Newport News Anchormen picked up a win at Anchormen Stadium, dropping the Leeds Locomotives, 4-2. Jack Ring was the difference-maker. Reliever Fernando Álvarez picked up the win. His record improves to 3-3. Salvador Fuentes, who is tied for 7th in the AML with a 0.94 WHIP, took the loss. Newport News, at 21-35, holds down last place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.

Newport News got a game-changing hit from Dong-kwan Cho. The second baseman blasted a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a winner.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Cho said.
