|
In a low-scoring game between the Akron Ambers and the Clifton Dons, pitcher Raúl Gómez was masterful on the mound. The Akron right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-0 win. The winning pitcher was Gómez, now 5-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 6. Il-sang O earned the save for Akron.
Akron used a well-timed hit by Roy Hesketh to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Ambers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I like what I saw today," said Akron manager Ramón Rodríguez, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
With the win, Akron goes to 34-23, while the Dons fall to 25-32.
