Dons Handed 4-3 Loss by Braggarts
|
The Fayetteville Braggarts topped the Clifton Dons, 4-3, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Ballpark of Fayetteville. The standout performance belonged to Fayetteville pitcher and San Martín, Argentina, native Iván Canseco. Canseco got the win, improving to 5-3. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. With the win over Clifton, the Braggarts improved to 29-21.
The Dons had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Braggarts going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the slugging left fielder John MacVurich came to the plate. MacVurich hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Clifton hurler Kyle Johnstone. It was MacVurich's 14th home run of the year.
Canseco told the Fayetteville Herald: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
