Tri-Staters Ballpark hosted a real pitchers' duel.

In a tight contest between the Leeds Locomotives and the Evansville Tri-Staters, Luis López was the determining factor. The Leeds right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-0 win. The winner was López. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Wen-hua Shui.

Leeds used a well-timed hit by David Pérez to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Locomotives ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Pérez.

Their 27-22 record puts the Locomotives first in the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands.
