The Chesapeake Bay Oysters went home winners at Ballpark of Chesapeake Bay, thanks in large part to starter Fernando Fierro. Fierro stifled the Camaguey Tinajon, enabling Chesapeake Bay to grab the 8-1 win. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Haruki Matsui. Chesapeake Bay, now 21-22, holds down 5th place in the Appalachian Mountain League East.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Joaquín Hernández had a game-changing hit. The Oysters second baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Stan Crow, making the score 3-1, Chesapeake Bay.

"No weaving and bobbing. Fernando came right after them," said Chesapeake Bay manager John Mayer.
