Golden Sands Take Tight Tango, 2-1
|
The Aberdeen Golden Sands locked up a win at Rhino Park, knocking off the Leeds Locomotives, 2-1. On the mound for Aberdeen was right-hander José Figueroa. He played a major role in the triumph. In 8 innings, Figueroa surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Román Salinas picked up the save for Aberdeen, his 6th of the year.
Aberdeen used a timely hit from Benjamin Gentileschi to get the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Golden Sands ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"José is one tough hombre," said Aberdeen manager Yoichibei Suzuki.
The Golden Sands now have a record of 19-21.
