Thanks in large part to right fielder Toshiro Hirose, the Mansfield Mohicans beat the Chesapeake Bay Oysters, 4-0. Hirose was 3 for 3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Ralph Bonilla picked up the win, improving his season record to 4-3. He struck out 4 in 6.1 innings. Héctor Ventura wrapped it up, recording his 1st save.
Hirose had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-2 knuckle curve from Fernando Fierro, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Mohicans a 1-0 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Hirose.
"We played hard and won," said Hirose. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Mansfield is now 24-15. Chesapeake Bay is 19-19.
