The Akron Ambers beat the Jefferson County Independence, 7-4, at Ballpark of Jefferson County. The Ambers got a fine performance from third baseman Jeff Gibbons, who went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The win was credited to 22-year old right-handed pitcher Takahashi Sasaki in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Jorge Quintana took the loss. The win makes Akron 22-16.

Akron took advantage of an error in the top of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 4-4, when Wilson Seguillo hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Ambers in front, 5-4.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Seguillo told the Akron Today. "It's as simple as that."
