The Akron Ambers defeated the Newport News Anchormen, 8-7. Doing his part was shortstop Hae-young Han, who was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Lou Drewery, the winning pitcher, improved to 2-3. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 2 hits and no runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Ambers saw their record improve to 19-14.

Making an impact for the home team was Paul Holmes. In the bottom of the fifth, the 26-year old center fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 7-0, Ambers.
