Fayetteville Wins, 6-3, Behind 2 MacVurich Home Runs

Fayetteville first baseman John MacVurich contributed significantly to his team's 6-3 win over the Jefferson County Independence. MacVurich, who is tied for 4th in the AML in home runs with 7, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Braggarts. Picking up the win was Juan Pérez. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 10 and walked 1. Ryosei Shiroi collected save number 6.
Gwang-oo Chon went 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Fayetteville. The 26-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Tony Romero. It was his 17th walk of the season.
"John leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said Fayetteville manager Dave Nash.
The Independence fall to 12-15 and continue their lethargic start to the 2042 season.
