Hurler Okura Arai gave the Eindhoven Electric a solid start. The native of Sango, Nara helped his team defeat the Joplin Red Racers, 3-2, at Red Racers Ballpark. Arai, the winner, moves to 2-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. Karel Rietkerk got the save, the 10th for him this season.
Eindhoven won the game in part because of Tulio Fernández. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Electric ahead, 3-0. For the game, Fernández had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"I was talking to myself on the mound, saying 'attack, attack, attack, stay convicted, no matter what,'" said Arai.
The Red Racers, 11-16, continue their sluggish start to the 2042 campaign.
