Baker goes 1-4 to Power Tourists Offense
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Ballpark of Fayetteville. But 26-year old left fielder Tim Baker produced just enough offense to carry the Tourists past the Fayetteville Braggarts, 3-2. Baker threw 8.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Baker yielded 2 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 1 hit, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 3-1. The win gives Santo Domingo a record of 12-11.
With Santo Domingo leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Baker hit a cutter from John MacVurich for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Tourists ahead, 3-0.
"That's baseball," said Fayetteville manager Dave Nash. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
